Creating Sacred Space in Daily Living |

|
In today’s world, to truly make a stand for holiness, for universal love, is in most situations so far from the status quo that you have to decide how much you’re willing to compromise your heart in order to get along. The world as we know it is dominated by fear, and some of our major institutions are its unwitting headquarters. Think this way, don’t think that way. Go in this direction, not in that one. Yet the spirit isn’t known for conformity. Where there is no room for the ecstatic impulse, there is no real room for the revelation of love.

Spiritual maturity does not happen in a vacuum. If you talk to any individual fully committed to their spiritual growth, they will tell you they had a lot of help along the way. Additionally, many individuals at some point on their journey will also report times of feeling “stuck” spiritually, despite their commitment to growth. Spiritual “discipline” receives its name for a reason; it isn’t easy. People often begin a personal routine with great commitment, only to find the balance and sense of peace is difficult to sustain. This is where a spiritual coach can be useful. Whether you are just beginning to entertain spiritual questions, or have been following a path for years, the help of a coach can help clarify your goals and deepen your commitment to them. The coaching process can also help reveal blind spots as well as offer gentle challenge. Like any other form of coaching, spiritual coaching is results-oriented, helping you with specific goal setting, tracking of progress, and help with modifications along the way.
Examples of questions in spiritual coaching might include: · What is your goal in beginning or deepening a spiritual practice? · What are you yearning for most at this point in your life? · Describe influences that pull you away from a spiritual focus. · Are there areas of unresolved guilt that you wrestle with? · How does your work environment affect your spirituality? · Who is a spiritual teacher/role model in your life? Why? |
